| All Wired Up and Ready to Go |
| Thanks to a very generous grant from the Norcross Foundation, the staff of Amigos Bravos now has a completely new computer system. Five new blue Apple iMacs and one Powerbook G3 have been added to the offices in Taos and Albuquerque. This new system will enable the staff to maximize our productivity via networking, multi-tasking and simultaneous on-line access. Prior to this new system the staff of six was working with three Apple Performas and three PCs, all of which had different operating systems, different versions of applications, single user on-line capabilities, small hard drives, limited RAM and the processing speed of a tortoise. Imagine the difficulties the staff had in sharing and editing documents under these conditions. The time required to translate and reformat was enormous.
Now the computers speak the same language and have the speed to operate really efficiently. Recently Taos gained accessibility to digital lines. An ISDN line was installed at our new office location. This allows all staff to be on-line at the same time and allows for faster processing; both uploading and downloading. All the changes are proving highly beneficial in staying afloat with the many projects at hand. Thanks again to Richard Reagan and the Norcross Foundation for making a huge difference in our productivity! |
