Gifts for You, Your Friends, and the River
Please consider purchasing our beautiful 2002 Calendar as a gift to yourself, your friends and your loved ones. By buying the calendar or any other Amigos Bravos product your gift will also be to the rivers we protect and restore. The image and layout of the 2002 calendar and corresponding poster were donated to Amigos Bravos so that we could raise funds to further the important work of protecting the Río Grande and its tributaries. World-renowned photographer Gus Foster took this image with his special panoramic camera at the headwaters of the Río Grande. The 360º view depicts the highest spring on the southeast side of 13,322-foot Hermit Peak, the very birthplace of the Río Grande. The spring with its surrounding carpet of wildflowers, and the Continental Divide as its backdrop, is a reminder of the purity of water as it comes from the earth, and an inspiration for the work Amigos Bravos does to protect that water as it makes its way through our communities. Janet Webb of Webb Design, very generously donated the layout for the poster and calendar. Thanks to Janet and Gus we are now able to sell this calendar and poster as part of our new fundraising project that offers you something tangible as a reminder to you and your friends of your commitment to preserving and restoring rivers and the lives they sustain. Legitimate concerns over present political circumstances notwithstanding, internal threats to our environment, to our "homeland", remain very real indeed and our many important river conservation projects continue apace. We're working to help restore river flow on the Río Costilla, to reclaim the Molycorp mine site and to clean up the adjacent Red River. We're suing to restore a 40-acre gravel pit on the border of the Río Grande Wild and Scenic Area. And we continue to work to build alliances to insure sufficient flow of clean water to support traditional uses and natural ecosystems throughout the Río Grande, even in the face of growing populations and development. Each project requires time, staff, legal help, and scientific research, often for years. All this costs money. We receive no government funding. We rely on your generosity and the support of several foundations. As this holiday season approaches, we hope that you'll buy something for yourself and a friend. And if you give one of these items as a gift, make sure your friends know that you're giving not only a T-shirt or Calendar, but also the gift of life for the Rivers. To place orders, see the form on this page or visit our website at www.amigosbravos.org. We will ship within 5 days of receiving payment.

Amigos Bravos Cash Reserve Fund is Amigos Bravos insurance against hard times. The Cash Reserve Fund is money set aside to ensure that the organization can survive cash flow shortages in the annual operating budget. It can only be accessed for certain purposes, such as meeting payroll or for emergency capital outlay. There are strict guidelines on when and how money from the fund can be used. Any use of money from the Fund requires approval from the Board of Directors. This Fund is a hedge against hard times, ensuring that Amigos Bravos will stay healthy and able to pursue its mission. Our Cash Reserve account was opened in March 1998 with a $15,000 grant from the Ruth Mott Fund. Thanks to generous contributions of our members, the $5,082 proceeds of Brian Shields, Unframed, and the net cash flow surplus from FY 1999-2000, the interest bearing account now has a balance of over $36,168. Our goal is to bring the balance up to $50,000.00. Please consider making a contribution to the Amigos Bravos Cash Reserve Fund.
