Over the last four years, we have seen unprecedented attacks on landmark laws built to protect our environment. Federal funding has been cut back and environmental standards that protect clean air and our health have been rolled back. Amigos Bravos is rising to the challenge and standing strong against any threat to clean drinking water in the year ahead. But we can’t do it without you.
There are many ways you can help us continue our powerful advocacy for holding polluters accountable and protecting our rivers to ensure that they provide New Mexicans with clean water for drinking, sustaining wildlife, and providing recreation. Ways to Make an Impact Now
You can make a difference right now to protect the natural life-giving beauty of New Mexico’s waters. Below are gift options that go to work immediately to conserve and protect the sacred waters we cherish.
Donor Advised Funds
You can initiate a grant recommendation from your Donor Advised Fund, or DAF, by clicking the menu pull down link below and typing in your fund provider name. The system will prompt you through the process.
IRA Charitable Rollover
Many donors feel that the direct transfer of funds from an IRA to Amigos Bravos is an effective way to reduce their taxable income while strengthening conservation in America. Here’s how it works:
- You must be 70 ½ or older.
- An individual may transfer up to a total of $100,000 per year and a married couple may give up to $200,000.
- Your gift must be transferred directly from the IRA account to Amigos Bravos, Inc.
- Your gift is a transfer of funds from your IRA to Amigos Bravos, so, it does not create taxable income for you and is not considered a charitable tax deduction.
- If you are 72 and older, the transfer of funds counts towards your annual Required Minimum Distribution* from your IRA.

* Congress has waived the annual Required Minimum Distribution from IRA Accounts in the year 2020 as part of the CARES Act in response to COVID-19. Gifts of Stock Shares and Securities
You can donate appreciated shares of stock and securities directly to Amigos Bravos. Donating stock or securities can not only help support Amigos Bravos’ work, it can also benefit you by enabling you to provide a gift of full value with no taxes to be paid.
To have your broker transfer shares to Amigos Bravos electronically, most brokerage firms will require a letter of intent from you to request the transfer. In the letter, provide your broker with the following account information, or have them call Joseph Zupan, Amigos Bravos’ Executive Director at 575-758-3874 for the information.
